From statement earrings to necklaces

From statement earrings to necklaces

We all have an early memory of when we found someone wearing beautiful jewelry. It’s such a delicious memory to hold on to. Maybe it was mom, an aunt, a cousin or a movie star. We tend to remember at least one beautiful earring or necklace forever.

Why is that?

Jewerly in itself is an art form. It is an expression of oneself, it’s the desire to be heard and definitely noticed. But it goes beyond mere physical beauty. It is a significant way we showcase our soul. From statement earrings to necklaces, every piece of jewelry has a story and it blends with yours to form true art.

Is it that significant?

Do you remember the last time you stepped out of the house without any jewelry, not even a pair of earrings? Maybe it was in a rush to go to the office or to buy groceries at the nearby kirani store. We tend to forget. Have you thought about why that is? Because the focus for that trip is usually not us. It is someone else. Maybe the boss will give you a side eye if you are late again, or you might need to deal with the grumpy cashier at the store who you dislike, but you are out of milk or dal. It’s interesting, isn’t it?

If it is an evening out with a friend, or you had a lot of time to get ready to get to work, or you are clicking a selfie for Instagram. You would definitely wear your favorite earrings, or a necklace or an engagement ring. It completes your 'look' and it defines what you love.

Is there a right way to dress up?

Believe me, there is not. It’s always about how you love yourself and never about what someone else thinks about you. I recently saw a picture of a lovely woman who wore her mother’s old silk saree and jewelry to a fancy wedding cocktail. Was she out of place? No. She loved how she looked and she looked absolutely confident in what she wore. That’s what matters the most. In the 90s and earlier, our mothers wore gorgeous sarees and traditional jewelry or pearls and they could not have been more beautiful. We also see Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and so many Instagram influencers who wear whatever they enjoy.

It all boils down to being yourself. Hence, back to my point about how jewelry is art and feel free to express yourself with your favorite pieces. Also, a statement piece is not just a large necklace or earrings. It is a piece of jewelry you wear to make your statement.
